It’s time for another hike with a tent in the mountains. After the Pizol was so beautiful last year, we really wanted to do it again. This year (2021) we were a bit late. The first snow had already fallen in the mountains at the end of August. Nevertheless, we decided to do the tour to the Jöriseen lakes on the Flüela Pass. All but one of the weather apps had predicted good weather for the two days. Unfortunately, the one app was exactly right and it rained the whole time we were climbing. We hiked up to Winterlücke (2785m), the highest point, before heading back down to the lakes. It had become quite gloomy and hazy due to the rain and clouds, so neither of us felt like hiking all the way to the lakes like this. Above all, it was difficult to estimate how far it was, we didn’t know exactly whether we would find a good campsite and we kept hearing cowbells from the direction of the lakes. So we turned round and climbed back down a bit. On the ascent we had seen a metal door in the rock face with a small dry ledge. We were lucky and our tent fitted exactly into this gap. Once everything was set up, it stopped raining. We warmed up with tea and then went to bed early. On the rocky slopes to the right and left of our sheltered sleeping area, we heard two small rockslides coming down.
The next morning we woke up to glorious sunshine. The last of the clouds slowly disappeared as the morning progressed. A beautiful mountain panorama came into view. We decided to dismantle and tidy up everything first and walk the 10 minutes to the Winterlücke, as it was still quite cold in the shade. At 2785m the morning sun was shining and we had breakfast with the first snowfields of this autumn. After refreshments, we set off in the direction of the Jöriseen (2489m). This was followed by a large gravel field, where Freddy was glad that they hadn’t hiked over it last night. Arriving at the lakes, we spotted some hikers with their tents. We were quite happy about our special and quiet place to sleep. One person was also fishing in the lake. To Jöriflüelafurgga (2722m) we had to climb quite a bit to be able to descend to the road again. A small part of the path was quite steep and exposed, but well protected with ropes.
