What a wonderful end to my studies: a trip to Sri Lanka with my dear New Zealand family. A small selection of impressions from my 4 week trip to Sri Lanka.
From Colombo we travelled south along the coast via Galle to Tangalle. From there we travelled via the Udawalawe National Park into the highlands to Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy. We continued on to Dambulla, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. Before returning to Colombo, we made a short stop in Anuradhapura. From the warm and humid coastal regions, we travelled to the cool highlands with their huge tea plantations and then to the famous old religious towns in the inland. Sri Lanka is a bustling, diverse country with very tasty food. Apart from in the very touristy areas, not many people could speak English.
Freddy hopes to make another trip to the north of the country. Due to the long civil war, it was not yet fully open to tourists in 2017.
